Lotus Estate Planning & Elder Law
About the Firm

A boutique firm built around listening.

We're a small, deliberate firm. We take fewer cases on purpose, so we can know your family's name, your kids' names, and what keeps you up at night. That's where good plans come from.

What We Believe

A different posture toward planning.

We're not a volume firm. We don't have a will-mill. We sit with you, ask the questions most lawyers skip, and write the plan that fits the family in front of us, not a template.

01 / Listening first

Your story shapes the plan.

Before we draft a single document, we ask the slow questions: who you love, what you've built, what you want spoken aloud at your funeral. Plans get better when they start there.

02 / Plain language

Documents you can read.

If your family can't understand your plan without a lawyer in the room, we haven't done our job. Every clause, in plain English, with no asterisks left for someone else to decode.

03 / A long relationship

A plan that stays alive.

Your life changes. Your plan should too. When something shifts, a marriage, a birth, a move, a new chapter, reach out and we'll bring your plan back in step with the family it was built for.

Lisa H. Beatty

Founder & Attorney

Lisa H. Beatty, J.D. has spent nearly 30 years helping individuals and families navigate the decisions that matter most: planning for the future, protecting what they've built, and ensuring their wishes are honored when it counts. Her practice centers on estate planning, elder law, Medicaid planning, probate, and trust administration.

Lisa believes that good guidance begins with being truly heard. She takes the time to understand each client's goals and priorities, and to make sure they leave every conversation with clarity, not just about what comes next, but about why it matters.

A former law school professor, Lisa is a frequent speaker for senior centers, senior living communities, and continuing education programs through the State Bar of Michigan. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan's Elder Law and Disability Rights Section, the Livingston County Bar Association, WealthCounsel, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Lisa is deeply rooted in her Michigan community, serving as Emergency Coordinator for Roscommon County's Emergency Management Department, providing auxiliary communications as needed or requested, and as a member of Livingston County's Community Emergency Response Team. She lives on a small hobby farm with her husband and daughter, treasures her time with her children and grandchildren at the family cabin up north, and routinely forgets to water the plants.
